The purpose of this group is to support the aims and purposes of the American Legion.
Our group is sponsored by local American Legion Post 356
and works in conjunction with the Post to provide service
to the community, state and nation. American Legion
Motorcyclists are involved with many charities and Veterans
issues. The American Legion Riders program has provided a
lot of enjoyment for those members who share a common
interest in motorcycling.

We would like to stress that we are neither a “Motorcycle Club”
nor an “MC.” We are the Legion Riders, a recognized
non-territorial Veteran’s Fraternal Organization.

From the Riders Director....

From the Director:

Hello, and welcome to our home on the web. The American Legion Riders are part of the American Legion Family. We take part in Legion functions, fundraisers, and other functions that go hand-in-hand with the Legion Family. We are a family oriented association that loves to ride our bikes. Many of our riders are also Patriot Guard Riders who ride to Honor our Vets who pass away, or are K.I.A..

Sometimes, we just saddle up and ride for fellowship and fun.

Whether you are an American Legion, SAL, or Auxiliary member, you can join the Riders as long as you have a motorcycle, can go the speed limit, and have a motorcycle endorsement on your drivers lic..

We would like you to stop by the post sometime and visit us at one of our meetings. Our meeting dates and times are posted on the Meeting page.  If you are interested in joining a great, fun, family oriented organization of motorcycle enthusiasts, come on by! We’d love to meet you!

Any questions about eligibility are located on the Membership page. If you are still not sure? Contact the post commander.

Legion Riders Poem

The American Legion Rider

When our country is harmed, there are those that respond.
With honor and duty they're sent
In war and in peace, with strength and resolve,
It's the blood of the soldier that's spent.
We fight and some die, on those foreign lands.
With freedom and God at our side.
And when our service is done, we need to keep on,
So we join the Legion that rides.
The souls of the fallen and breath of the living,
Bestow Gods blessings on this country's side.
So with flags held aloft, and the sounds of thunder,
We join the Legion that rides.
When our day is past, and our duty is done
God's angels will ask, "Have you been a provider?"
"What have you done for your country and man?"
I'll answer with pride, "I'm an American Legion Rider"

Legion Riders Prayer

Almighty God, we give you thanks, for giving us a land of the free that we can enjoy riding through its beauty of trees, valleys, and mountains and rivers. You have blessed us with good health to our bodies, minds, and spirits, so that we can
appreciate your awesome gifts of owning a bike to ride and friends and comrades that can appreciate the same. Help us to help those in need in their lives, so that they too can prosper in all that they are capable of doing and becoming for the glory of God. We ask for your safety and protection as we travel far and near and to unknown places. Make our lives to be good examples as a Legion Rider who cares
about veterans, and our troops who are serving, and Lord be with their families right now. Especially at this time, be with those who are grieving for those who have given the Ultimate Sacrifice for their beloved country. Give each of us the strong
sense of Your presence and Your Guidance in all things. In your name, we pray.
AMEN

UNDER THE LEATHER AND BEHIND THE SHADES
Author Unknown

Under the leather and behind the shades stands a biker. We ride for the sense of freedom it gives us. The encouragement to take the road less traveled in the chance that we may encounter something new. We ride for the friendships we make along the way, as well as, the solitude of the open road. We don't really care what you ride, just that you do. Under the leather and behind the shades is a beating heart. A heart filled with compassion that on any given day will be riding for those in need. Ask one of us for help, but don't be surprised when all of us show up. Under the leather and behind the shades stands a proud American. We are as diverse a group of people that you could possibly assemble. We are men, women, tradesmen, doctors, lawyers, retirees, military, civilian and on and on and on. We stand silently with reverence and one voice that, in the silence, can be overwhelming. Under the leather and behind the shades stands an invited guest to the funeral of a soldier that we most likely have never met. We hold the flag of our nation as a tribute to the greatest sacrifice anyone can make. Out of respect for the fallen, we travel to stand firm for a family, a community and a nation to lean on. Under the leather and behind the shades stands a biker with sons, daughters, brothers and sisters of our own. Beneath the rough exterior we tremble and weep at your loss. You may not see that, for we are there to support you. That’s why we stand so silently under the leather and behind the shades.

Definition of a Veteran

A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it
